Artist Statement
My current work oscillates between fine-press-printing and DIY-alternative-publishing methods, often blending the two seamlessly. Much of what I create — letterpress printed books, zines, prints, illustrations and digital design work — explores how type and image manifest across mediums and tools. Type as image, image as type, type through image, image through type.
From pulp painting comics to layering type as coloured shapes on the press, I am always looking for new techniques to manifest these two building blocks of book arts across mediums and materials. I take a keen interest in the print and typographic histories of India, and how current practices of calligraphy and book making can further the reach of Indian languages in print.
